The weekend is here and it’s perfect dating weather. When was the last time you went on a first date? Were you nervous? Well you shouldn’t be; the first date doesn’t have to be complicated. We all have those moments where we had butterflies and we couldn’t seem to contain our emotions but the first date should not be a math problem instead it should be more like Chemistry. It’s just two new people coming together and possibly meshing into each other’s lives.
Here are a few basic tips to help you prepare for your first date:
1. Encourage Yourself
Self love is always appreciated when embracing something new and unfamiliar. Use this time to stare at yourself in the mirror and give yourself a little pep talk. It is time to boost your confidence and tell yourself just how cute you look in that new outfit. There isn’t anything wrong with self reflecting and getting your ‘pretty girl swag’ on. This works perfect before a first date to ensure your self esteem is high and you’re ready for whatever comes your way.
2. The Outfit
The outfit can be classy, chic with a stunning taste of seduction. The outfit should not scream raunchy SEX (not on the first date ladies) but it shouldn’t resemble Old Mother Hubbard either. Wear something that makes you feel good and expresses your personality. This is your first impression to someone, so make it a lasting one. I always opt for a pair of skinny jeans, high heel pumps, and bright colored blouse and accessories as a bonus. It states I’m fun, flirty with a little bit of edge.
3. Pick the perfect location
Many first dates can fail based on the location itself. The first date should be a place where two people can interact on a personal level but a public place where everyone could feel comfortable. I suggest never having a first date at the movies. It just seems pointless to go on a date where we do not speak or look at each other. The first date is the time to interact and share each other’s personalities to determine if CUPID was right. Pick a location that allows you to have a good time plus allows for great conversation. Try a coffee shop, a restaurant, or even an arcade spot. This will allow for interaction on a competitive level which will bring out other emotions which are essential to recognize in your mate. The first date should be fun, select a place where you think you both will have a good time.
4. PUT YOUR CELL PHONE AWAY
The absolute rudest act someone can do while on a date is play, talk, or text on their cell phone. How do you expect to get to know someone if you’re on your phone tweeting? This is your time to combine thoughts and interact with no distractions. So please, I know it can be difficult, but please cell phones away.
5. Have Fun and Relax
This tip is by far the most important. Just take a deep breath, relax and have a good time. Life is about experiencing something new, learning about new people and enjoying all aspects of it. First dates are always the hardest to overcome but remind yourself that you are there to have a good time in good company.
