3 Ways to Obtain a Healthy Diet

One of my new regimens for 2013 is to have a healthier diet.  You will be surprise how quickly the wrong foods can poorly affect your immune system, which can lead to other things in your life being affected.  I think I'm going to purchase a juicer and begin to make juices for my vegetable and fruit intake.  When I was younger I remember my parents use to juice and feed me their mixtures, but as I got older I did not take on the habit.  But now I have decided to change my lifestyle and begin juicing and changing my diet. It’s fairly simple and filled with nutrients if done properly. My new favorite website is WedMD and this site is filled with details on how to maintain and obtain a healthy lifestyle.

For those of you that are unsure about where and how to start, here are 3 things to look for when changing your diet:

  • Aim for balance. Most days, eat from each food group-grains, protein foods, vegetable and fruit, and dairy. Listen to your body. Eat when you're hungry. Stop when you feel satisfied.
  • Look for variety. Be adventurous. Choose different foods in each food group. For example, don't reach for an apple every time you choose a fruit. Eating a variety of foods each day will help you get all the nutrients you need.
  • Practice moderation. Don't have too much or too little of one thing. All foods, if eaten in moderation, can be part of healthy eating. Even sweets can be okay.  [i]

I have so much to learn as I embark on this healthy eating lifestyle but I am excited about learning and feeding my body the RIGHT foods instead of the foods that just taste good.  I hope you will partake in this healthy eating journey with me, so we can share recipes, work out routines, and just details of the overall experience.  Of course you can do this alone but life is always better when more than one is doing the movement together.
